Was cleaning a couple of days ago and I noticed some rust on the tailgate area as I lifted out the rubber seal that runs the perimeter of the entire trunk. The rust spots are on the vertical lip where the seal sits. This is a Chicago car and I was expecting some rust, so no surprises here. It's not through. I sprayed some lubricant on it and replaced the rubber seal. Car is basically in storage for now, rust doesn't seem to be growing - for now. What to do? I'm thinking to to sand down to metal, apply some rust proof compound, prime and do a local repaint. But I suck at all that!
